what you're describing is, as well, a big issue of treating fandom like capitalism, i agree. i've just found it difficult to participate, difficult to understand, difficult to find joy in it. i'll be the first one to say a joyless hobby is just another job, which is what fandom latey has felt like. hence, i've also been more quiet. personally, i don't see a solution to this for me. at least not at this current moment
